Neuropeptide Y (NPY) produced in the arcuate nucleus (ARC) of the hypothalamus
stimulates feeding both directly by activating NPY receptors and indirectly through release of
the orexigenic peptides, galanin and β-endorphin (β-END), in the paraventricular nucleus
